Our MD and founder, Yola O’Hara, has completed her second fundraising half marathon of the year – although chose an alternative route!
Yola has pledged to run four half marathons during 2020 to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West.
She was due to run in the Bath Half Marathon but, along with many of the runners, chose not to mingle with the crowds due to concerns about Coronavirus. Instead, Yola decided to run the 13 miles around roads near her Brinkworth home, with her husband acting as marshall.
“In all honesty, I don’t really think the location matters,” said Yola. “What matters is that I completed the full distance, that I never stopped even when I was soaked through or when my hands hurt
from cold. My local route is quite a hilly one, and so I’m over the moon at completing it in good time.”
The Bath event was the second race for Yola this year. She ran the Gloucester Half Marathon in January, and plans to take part in the events in Swindon in September and Cardiff in October.
Yola chose the Children’s Hospice South West because, as a Mum of twin boys, she wanted to do something to help other families. She said: “I’m the lucky mum with healthy kids but there are so many families out there who are not so lucky.”

This is Yola’s third year of running for charity. In 2018, she started with two 10km runs for Wiltshire
Air Ambulance. Then last year, she ran her first half marathons and raised money for Save the Children and the Jessie May Trust.
